Sprague Farm Horses – Sandra Swan
SHOW EXTENDED!
Now — January 5, 2020.
Because of the great response to Sandra’s prints, we are extending her show until January 5th.
Sweethaven Gallery, 25L Inn Street, Newburyport, MA.
By the fountain, down the stairs.
Sandra Swan was born in Bronxville, NY, September 30, 1934, and grew up in Greenwich, CT. She studied drawing with Howard Trafton at the Art Students’ League in NY and etching with Carlus Dryer at the Silvermine School of Art in New Canaan, CT. She moved to Block Island, RI in 1960, with her two daughters, and became a year-round resident. Her interest in Block Island’s old buildings led her to work with woodcuts and wood collages. She has since developed a unique way of printing with large multi-blocks. Her subjects have grown out of her love for architecture and nature. She lived for many years in her home and studio in Charlestown, MA and spent her winters on Block Island. She recently moved to Stonington, CT.
The Giclée prints on display are made from Sandra Swan’s woodcuts created over the past 40 years. They are printed on heavy archival watercolor paper, using the most advanced form of digital printing.
